This policy explains how Bula Base collects, uses, and protects information gathered through the Bula Base guest kiosk. By using the kiosk, you agree to the practices described here.
Bula Base is a guest quiz kiosk and customer-list platform for kava and kratom bars and botanical lounges, operated by Chris Jolly ("Bula Base," "we," "us") in St. Augustine, Florida. The kiosk is deployed at participating bars ("Bar Partners"). Questions about this policy can go to chris@bulabase.com.
When you use the kiosk you may choose to provide:
Your name, contact details, and preference profile are shared with the Bar Partner at the location where you used the kiosk. If your profile is linked across bars, a Bar Partner may also see parts of it, such as your flavor and effect preferences, that came from other participating bars. The bar can download its list as a CSV file and keep it. The bar's use of that list is governed by the bar's own practices and by applicable law.
We use outside providers to run the platform, including Supabase (database and authentication) and Google (Google Sheets and Google Drive). They process information on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
We may disclose information when the law requires it or to protect the rights and safety of guests, bars, or Bula Base.
We may share or license aggregated and de-identified information, such as trends in botanical preferences, with partners, suppliers, researchers, and others. If we ever offer data products that include personal information, we will update this policy first and give notice or opt-out choices where the law requires. We do not share your mobile number with third parties for their own marketing.
If you give a mobile number and agree to receive texts, both Bula Base and the Bar Partner whose list you joined may send you marketing messages such as offers, events, and specials. Message frequency varies. You can opt out of Bula Base texts and bar texts separately, or reply STOP to end all texts from a sender. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for help. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of getting a drink recommendation. Your mobile number is shared only with Bula Base and the Bar Partner whose list you joined.
To make a request, email chris@bulabase.com. We aim to respond within 30 days. A deletion request covers the information we hold. It cannot recall a file a Bar Partner has already exported, so please also contact the bar to be removed from its list.
We keep information for as long as it is useful to operate and improve Bula Base, or as the law requires, unless you ask us to delete it. When a Bar Partner ends its account, we provide a CSV export of its customer list.
We use encrypted storage, row-level access controls, and secure HTTPS connections. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we will notify affected Bar Partners and others as the law requires, without unreasonable delay.
The kiosk is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Guests confirm they meet the age requirement (18+ for kava, 21+ for kratom) before any information is collected.
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always posted at bulabase.com/privacy, with the date it was last updated. Material changes will also be sent to Bar Partners by email.
